Graham specialises in commercial lending, debt trading and in particular securitisation and asset-backed finance. He was involved in the earliest securitisation transactions involving Scottish assets and developed (with partner Hamish Patrick) the structures now generally used to securitise assets in Scotland; he continues to be involved in a wide variety of securitisations and other asset backed transactions.
Recent deals include acting for Abbey National plc in its "master trust" residential mortgage securitisation; acting for Northern Rock PLC in connection with the sale of a £2.3 billion home equity release mortgage portfolio; and acting for Alliance & Leicester PLC in the establishment of their €10 billion Covered Bonds programme.
Graham also advises on the operation of Islamic finance products in Scotland, and devised the first Shari’a compliant mortgage documentation for the Scottish market.
