Richard is the head of our Entertainment and media law team and a member of our IT/IP, Hospitality & Leisure and Charities teams. He is acknowledged as having the leading entertainment law practice in Scotland that serves the legal requirements of the majority of Scotland's key entertainment industry players.
Over the years Richard has worked on a wide range of film productions from Trainspotting, the blockbuster Gladiator and The Flying Scotsman to the re-make of Greyfriars Bobby. He have also worked on a host of TV series from Monarch of the Glen to World War One, a range of theatre productions including UK tours and West End transfers and has experience in advising organisers of some of Scotland's key events from the Edinburgh Military Tattoo to the MTV Awards.
Richard is recommended in Legal Business’s “Legal Experts” in 2007 for both Media & Entertainment and Charities and as a Leader in their Field in Media & Entertainment by Chambers & Partners' and by Legal 500. Chambers also states ‘there is no lawyer in Scotland who has as great a knowledge of cultural matters as Richard Findlay'.
Richard is Vice Chairman of The Royal Lyceum Theatre Company, a member of the Advisory Board of Screen Academy Scotland, a board member of The Hill Adamson (formerly Scottish National Photography Centre) and a director of Luxury Edinburgh Limited.
