Islamic & Ethical Finance Conference
Following the success of last years conference on Islamic fund management, the Islamic Finance Council UK are holding another conference exploring the similarities and synergies between the Islamic and ethical finance arenas.
Hosted, once again, by Tods Murray, the event will explore key issues including:
Islamic finance: market dynamics, key principles, Islamic fund management - moving towards positive screening, accessing the $1trillion opportunity, similarities and synergies with ethical finance
Ethical finance: key principles, European dynamic, current movements (ESG), what Islamic finance can learn from ethical finance, how to create a successful commercial proposition based on principles, importance of the moral economy
Scottish heritage in ethical and faith-based finance: lessons learnt from faith-based banking initiatives led by the Church, role of faith-based & ethical finance in restoring confidence in the Financial Services sector, experience of current players during the financial crisis period
Speakers will represent leading industry specialist and representatives from the Church of Scotland (founders of TSB) and local practitioners (Co-Op Bank, SWIP) including a key note address by Ann Pettifor (best known for her leadership of Jubilee 2000, a worldwide campaign to cancel approximately $100 billion of debts owed by 42 of the poorest countries).
The conference will be followed by a civic reception hosted by the Lord Provost of Glasgow, in Glasgow.
