    The process of appointing a contractor to build the £295m rail link between Edinburgh and the Borders saw further progress yesterday as BAM UK ltd, IMCD (a consortium of Sir Robert McAlpine, Carillion Construction Ltd and Iridium Concessions de Infrastructures SA) and New Borders Railway (a consortium of Miller Construction (UK) ltd, Fluor Limited, and Uberior Infrastructure Investments) were invited to tender for the contract.
