Awareness of and concern for our environment has never been higher. This increased level of importance is being reflected in both the volume and rate of environmental legislation and regulations, emanating from international treaties, Europe and our own governments.
Our Environment and Climate Change team keeps abreast of these dynamic and ever-changing areas of the law and aims to provide a comprehensive advisory service in relation to every aspect of environmental law. Our expertise ranges from Air and Water Pollution, to Contaminated Land, Regulatory matters, Natural Heritage and Nature Conservation, Waste and Recycling, and Sustainable Development.
Of note is the passing of the Climate Change Act 2008 and Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009, which introduce ambitious targets. Our team was instrumental in formulating part of the Scottish Act and is actively monitory the introduction of secondary legislation and guidance notes.
Whilst our team is well versed in providing environmental law support in corporate, property, renewable energy and projects transactions, we also ably tackle all issues that specifically may arise from compliance with legislation, strategic advice, risk management, obtaining and complying with licence and consent requirements and support in environmental law litigation. We aim to provide advice with a commercial maturity and an analysis that allows the client to make properly informed decisions.
