Summer Law School

The Tods Murray summer law school is a unique opportunity to sample life as a solicitor, whilst studying for your law degree. One to two week work placements often involve work shadowing, whereas our eight week programme enables you to obtain valuable exposure to various transactions, well beyond what can be achieved during shorter placements.

We recommend that applicants are, at least, in their 3rd year of an Undergraduate LLB or in their 1st year of the Accelerated LLB, and have gained, or are on track to gain, a 2:1.

 Duration and Salary

Our summer law school lasts for a period of eight weeks during July and August.

During your placement you will be paid £262.50 per week and will also accrue holiday entitlement.

Summer Law School Programme

To ensure you get the best out of your time with us, the programme comprises of 4 key elements:

Induction Programme

To get you off to a great start we provide you with an intensive induction programme, which helps you familiarise yourself with your new colleagues, the office environment, our IT systems and our day-to-day way of working.

In addition to getting to grips with our working environment, the induction programme also gives you the opportunity to mix with other Summer Law School participants and existing trainees. To kick-start the social side of the programme you will have the opportunity to get involved in the extra curricular activities planned by our Sports and Social Committee.

Departmental Placement

Whilst assigned to a specific department you will be involved in various transactions, carrying out research, attending client meetings and, in some cases, working on a departmental project. Of course, support will be available to you throughout the programme and you will be assigned both a supervisor and a “buddy”, to provide you with continual guidance. Placements are available within eight of our departments, providing the opportunity to work on transactions in a number of industry sectors including:
