CEO of Peel Ports speaks at Tods Murray event
The CEO of Peel Ports, Stephen Baxter, spoke at a Tods Murray lunch in Glasgow on 17 June. Mr Baxter and Tods Murray are partnering up through their common desire to support and assist The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.
In addition to his role as CEO to the UK’s second largest group of ports, Stephen Baxter is a corporate ambassador for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and was previously the COO of the BAA Group.
At the lunch, Stephen talked to assembled guests about his time at BAA, Peel Ports and his experience of the transport and infrastructure as well as his role as Hospice Ambassador. In particular, Stephen illustrated how businesses can combine their commercial operations and charitable giving and support.
The Tods Murray lunch is one in a series of lunches organised by the Firm’s Glasgow office. This lunch will be hosted by Commercial Property Partner, Caroline James, based in the Glasgow office. It took place in the private rooms at the restaurant Brian Maule at the Chardon d'Or in Glasgow and was attended by 45 key clients and contacts of the Firm’s Glasgow office.
Stephen Baxter said:
“The Hospice relies on charitable donations to support its terminally ill patients who are treated free of charge. It is great to see a company like Tods Murray supporting such a worthy cause.”
Caroline James added:
“Our quarterly lunches are a great way of us being able to spend time with our clients and contacts; introduce them to people we think they would like to meet; whilst benefitting from the thoughts and experience of one of our excellent guest speakers.
Stephen Baxter is the Chief Executive of the UK’s second largest ports group and he himself has ambitious plans to take his company even further. We are extremely grateful to Stephen for speaking at our event and I, personally, am also delighted that The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is one of our two charities of the year, this year.”
In addition to the lunch, Tods Murray is also involved in a range of other CSR activities this week including:
- providing The Hospice with additional support by way of volunteers attending the Scottish Open;
- hosting a “swishing” event in the Firm’s Edinburgh office in aid of both The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow and The St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh;
- a team of 11 Tods Murray employees will be undertaking the Rob Roy Challenge on 20th June in aid of The Prince's Trust, Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust and Sightsavers International (and other partner charities of the Martin Currie Charitable Foundation); and
- as part of Tods Murray’s commitment to CSR, the Firm is also delighted to be sponsoring part of the Sick Kids Family Day, in Edinburgh, this Saturday, 20 June.
