Tods Murray hosts briefing on halving construction waste
Leading Scottish independent legal firm Tods Murray LLP is to host a lunchtime briefing and networking event on how to halve construction waste and cut costs to improve bottom- line.
Chaired by Susie Thornton, partner and member of the firm’s planning and development team, the event on 3rd March 2010 includes speakers from government environmental initiatives and the construction industry. Together they will look at how to reduce waste during the construction process and save on landfill costs, how to recycle waste and what help is available to businesses to identify recycling opportunities.
David Hill of Waste and Resources Action Programme will open the debate on ‘halving waste to landfill – the commitment and the benefits’ to be followed by Rupert Carrick of Envirowise, Dr Nigel Holmes of National industrial Symbiosis Programme and Dr Stephen Thomson of Laing O’Rouke.
Susie Thornton, whose practice involves her in sustainability issues, commented:
“Waste management is an important issue in the construction industry and we believe we have a line up of very eminent speakers on this subject.
“Best practice in terms of waste management and sustainability is not only driven by climate change regulation but by increasing evidence that it can cut costs. Our speakers will provide a practical guide to how cutting waste can cut costs.”
The event takes place at Tods Murray’s Edinburgh offices. Click here to book online.
