Tods Murray launches “Halfway Hospice Challenge”
Press Release – issued 15 October 2009
Tods Murray, today, announced the launch of the “Halfway Hospice Challenge” to raise much needed funds for their charity of the year: The Prince and Princess of Wales and St. Columba’s Hospices.
On 18 March, 2010, teams of cyclists will set off from the Falkirk Wheel on a journey heading either to the centre of Edinburgh or Glasgow along the designated cycle paths adjacent to the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals.
Along both routes, the teams will be set fundraising challenges and team tasks, before finishing at either the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow or St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh.
Teams are being invited from across the Scottish community and entry is via the website: www.todsmurray.com/halfway
Cycling is not the only element of this challenge. Those who do not wish to cycle but would like to get involved can do so from today by sponsoring a team or an individual; holding their own fundraising event or competition; purchasing a raffle ticket, or making a donation. The star prize in the raffle is a Revolution Cuillin XC Mountain Bike, donated by Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative.
The money raised from this challenge will help ensure the two Hospices continue to provide much needed care for patients, for whom a cure is no longer possible as well as providing invaluable support for the patient’s family.
The fundraising challenge is being organised by the Tods Murray Charity Committee and by volunteers from across the Firm.
Tods Murray’s Executive Partner, David Dunsire commented:
“We feel it is so important for businesses such as ourselves to support community-based charities and we encourage everyone in both our offices to get involved, not just in fundraising but also by giving their time through our volunteering programme. This event is a fun way of linking both hospices and both cities while helping to raise money for such worthy causes.
“In order to maintain current levels of service, the two hospices need to raise over £5 million in voluntary donations each year, which is why support and donations for these sorts of fundraising events is so important.”
