Tods Murray wins North Lanarkshire appointment
As HM Treasury highlights Tods Murray Joint Venture project
Tods Murray’s work in a leading pathfinder project involving the creation of a Joint Venture vehicle between public and private organisations has been highlighted by HM Treasury in a new draft guidance note currently out for consultation.
HM Treasury selected ‘Forest Holidays’, established by Tods Murray acting for The Forestry Commission, as its case study for the use of a limited liability partnership as a joint venture vehicle in its latest consultation paper on public private partnerships, http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/d/joint_venture_guidance.pdf
The selection of the Forest Holidays project also follows the announcement that Tods Murray has been selected by North Lanarkshire Council to support its in-house team in the re-letting of the Council's term contracts for gas, housing and property, and roads and street lighting maintenance services via public private partnerships formed by joint venture vehicle between the Council and its chosen partners.
Partner Stephen Colliston is again leading advice to North Lanarkshire Council ten years after setting up the first term contracts on this basis with Stephen Chan advising on the joint venture aspects.
David Dunsire, Executive Partner at Tods Murray, commented:
“Forest Holidays was the first joint venture of this type undertaken by the Forestry Commission and we were delighted to guide them through the legal processes involved in the use of innovative LLP structures. The selection of this joint venture by HM Treasury and our new appointments in such projects not only cements our position in the market for such complex and ground breaking project work, but also reflects the depth of expertise that exists within our firm.
“The announcements follow the capital projects team’s success (led by Stephen Colliston) in securing a new waste management project in the central belt of Scotland; the completion of two multimillion pound deals for CIS led by our commercial property partner, Angus McIntyre and his team; and recent significant transactions for Goldman Sachs involving a total of six Tesco supermarkets and its Scottish distribution centre completed by our banking department and led by Roddy Maclennan."
